No More National Tournaments ? ? ?
I heard a rumor from a pretty reliable source that Club Lucky will not be holding anymore National Tournaments and instead are going to use the finances that were earmarked for the National Tournaments and put those resources into the monthly contests.
Has anyone else heard this, or can this be confirmed?
I would like to get everyones opinion on this. I firmly believe those of us that attend the National tournaments are the driving force of Silver Strike bowling. We bowl the most, We talk up the game the most, We teach and educate all the newbies of the game...We basically pay Club Lucky's Salary.
With that being said, if this rumor does turn out to be true, I think it would suck and would hate to see the National Tournaments disappear. You can attend and bowl in as many local tournaments as you like, but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING compares to the Nationals....
And I don't believe without the support of a National organization (Club Lucky, Incredible Technologies, or the New and growing Vendors Group, name not mentioned out of respect for Club Lucky, but that may change) that a National Tournament would be nearly as successful.
If the majority of us feel the same way I do, then as the driving force of this game, I think we need to let this opinion be voiced and take actions that insure National Tournaments continue to happen.
Besides do all of you really want to see me go down in history as the last and current NATIONAL CHAMP!!!

Re: No More National Tournaments ? ? ?
aha... I have a lot of opinions on it!
Basically, I'm obviously disappointed about not having a TOC again. Since tradition alone is worth a lot - and they do get a lot of recognition for just having it, it amazes me that they wouldn't at least 'hold on' to the tradition by making it an invite only small event or something for previous winners of contests and TOC's, etc.... Have it somewhere centralized - only a day of competition, and at least that keeps a reigning TOC champion and the talk of the event alive. They don't have to invest a lot of money to do it - especially as it would be a much smaller event and no need to pay as high as deep.
Now - as far as that goes, everyone wanted to bitch about not having a Club Lucky machine around, and that it wasn't truly a national tournament, etc., etc., and you had to qualify.
So you want the REAL official SSB champion?? The Silver Strike Open World Championships (SOWCS) are OPEN to ANYONE and EVERYONE, the competition will be tough, and the fun factor will be through the roof! If you can make it through the field here - you deserve the title of being Silver Strike World Champion!!! And NO ONE can have an excuse for why that winner is NOT the best!!!!
So - believe me, I do plan on taking your title from you!!! lol
(Is this better?) Can't wait to see you Gilligan!!!

Well Del,
Guess that means you'll have to take that long overdue trip down to Florida after all.... (haha)
Gilligan (P.S. I still hate the thought of no more nationals, a sad day indeed!)

Re: No More National Tournaments ? ? ?
I.T. has only actually held only one National Tournament. The very first one, as a matter of fact.
Club Lucky Group were the ones that stepped up to the plate to hold the tournbaments after that. Now They've decided to invest more finanacial emphasis into the monthly contests and as a result won't be able to also invest the funds needed to set up and run a National Tournament.
In a perfect world, I. T. would be best suited to sponsor and set up the National Tournaments. But whether or not they will step up to the plate, is totally in their hands. They used to hold some huge monthly contests each and every month, but they did away with those as well
Without a doubt they have access to every single bowler in the Nation, where as all the other vendors, sponsors, etc...will only be represented by there own customer base
Come on IT, you can handle a once a year deal !!!! Right now you're getting away scott free... no nationals, no monthly's... whats up with that????

Re: No More National Tournaments ? ? ?
Better off that way . . .Only people who could enter tournaments were those that played on SSB Live machines that joined Club Lucky . . . Noone in Minnesota could even try to get into tourney without driving 300+ miles to another STATE . . . IT should handle the national tourney like they did first 2 years . . . and have it open to ANYbody that owns a silver strike bowling card . . .
