Understanding the variables is very informative and has helped. Especially reading the other comments. Does the follow-thru matter? Should one follow completely thru or have short follow-thru? Thanks all

The "follow-through" does matter. That's what really sets your speed. If you have a short follow-through but are able to stay consistent on your speed and accuracy then you should be fine. Every one has there own style. A long follow-through doesn't always work for every one. Make sure the bowlers arm is all the way back before you start your forward swing. Being consistent on your follow-through will help hit that pocket more often. I hope this helps. Now go get that 300! ;)

Thanks dead-eye...I did try a long follow thru and had 3 games over 200, I'm sure it'll get higher

Glad to hear it!! It will get better the more you practice. Pick a spot a stay with it. Same with what ever "follow-through" you choose. Remember to just have fun with it!!
