Ok - just got a new computer and I have to reinstall everything that I was using so that I can continue the project. I haven't had the time to do anything with it because of the Club Lucky tournaments and the move - but I am on vacation and am planning on installing and hopefully finishing everything while I'm here! But for now - time to go BOATING!!!!

Absolutely Mac!

That's why I started doing it. I'm working on the database and the queries now, so as soon as I have those completed, I can look up anything I want and I can easily develop several ranking systems - from avg money won, percent of first places, percent of top 5's, etc...... all the way to an advanced rating system that is used to determine your overall rank in the world.

So along those lines - I will be incorporating code to have an ELO type rating system or something similar, but I am open to recommendations and formulas for creating the "Master Rankings"

You must realize that there are always at least 3 REAL ranking systems. 1) Performance of solo play, where you can get into a rhythm and play at your speed. 2) Performance of group play, where you are at the whim of the other players and not necessarily able to get into a rhythm, and 3) In person - head to head tournament with pressure.

Since #3 is subjective, that's why there is a voting system based on those who have had great and or consistent finishes at the prior 3 major tournaments. With this information however, the subjective opinions of people can obviously change.

Since I can't separate #2 and #3 - take into consideration that they WILL be combined! Just as 'drunk nights', 'screw offs', 'shot testing', 'bad machines', etc... will all be in the data. A real rating system will drop the worst x% of games for a particular person (unless comparing head to head play). Just thoughts to think about.

Obtaining the data is complete (had to learn some new programming languages).
The database is easy but I'm too busy to get it done right now.

Are you able to do this because you're in every SSB game? Or does the SSB pages allow you to look at them even if you weren't in it? (if that's the case, they will change it if your program bogs them down in any way)


Also, I don't see how #3 is subjective, you have completed tourney results, right? Unless you have some top players who haven't gone to any tourneys, but then they shouldn't be ranked very high if that's the case anyway.

Telly (maverickcole), I'd like to get my hands on my stats. I think it would be interesting to dump it into Excel and graph out my scores over time and do some analysis on things such as top-scoring venues I've played at.

Feel free to post some general stats like you mentioned to this forum (I'm no SSB master, so there won't be any bragging!), but ideally, I'd just like a dump of all my scores, similar to how they are displayed on the silver strike website. So, if you would, please PM me a CSV list or send a file.

Finally - it may be my vacation - but I finally was able to have access to my old laptop to get all my programs / data off, so the stats truly are coming soon now!!

Just a quick breakdown, so far there have been 3125 10-Pin Contests, and 621 Spare Challenges! (These numbers include only the closed games as of 6pm or whatever, and do include the beta games)

I'm close!!!

Meanwhile - look out for the new machine anti-slide covers by Del and I.... samples will be sent out asap, and we guarantee you'll love them!! We can't even stand to play on a machine without one now! Big plans are in the works for them - and interest is high! Website and more information coming soon!

I think it's safe to say that I was a complete slacker when it came to reinstalling everything on my new computer - so I never got the stats going.

I could say "maybe - some day" - but I'm guessing that it won't happen!

SO - "I'm sorry for being a slacker!" .... if anyone even cares enough - let me know - then maybe I'll get back to working on it. Since I haven't used the program I wrote for a data pull in years - I'm not even sure I can access all the information anymore without the help of IT.
